Moon in Scorpio

MOON

I wanted to post something jolly today, but just realised the Scorpio new moon was around the corner and the energy is just so spectacular, so hectic to ignore. So here I am, babbling about another Scorpio placement again. Let’s talk about Moon in Scorpio, shall we?
If you are into classic literature, chances are you have already read Jane Austen’s Persuasion. If you haven’t, then I recommend the BBC 2007’s adaptation of the novel which is brilliant and illustrates vividly the emotional world of the Scorpio Moon.
The story evolves around the Ms. Anne Elliot, the unmarried middle child in a family of 3 daughters from a fallen noble family, and Frederick Wentworth, a distinguished navy man whom her family deems of lower social standing. 8 years later and an unexpected reunion. What will become of them and their broken engagement?
The two protagonist were briefly engaged in prior years, Frederick had frivolous spending habits and Anne was young and afraid of making the wrong choice in marrying him. She was overly dependent on the others’ judgements and he was overly confident of his love. Right person, wrong time? Perhaps, but Anne’s tutor, Lady Russell was convinced otherwise:
«You would indeed have been throwing yourself away».
As the story progresses, we see Anne as a typical middle child who has been neglected and emotionally abused by the whole family. Like a flower on the wall, as nobody pays attention to her feelings and wellbeing, she has shut herself off to be a dutiful daughter, sister and cousin to everyone, waiting for her turn to become a spinter. We can feel her agony of not being able to take part in all the funs of life because of other obligations.
«I know my chance of happiness has passed forever».
One may think all she cares about is her family and their happiness, but it’s not understatement to say she has spent all those years pinning about a lost love.
“Once there were no two hearts so open, no tastes so similar, no feelings so in unison”.
Moon in Scorpio is a self-conflictual aspect. The Moon is caring, vulnerable and emotional. Scorpio, whose ruling planets are Mars and Pluto, is level-headed and calculating, save for love. Moon in Scorpio’s love language is exclusivity shown through care and intimacy. They can be quite extravagant and intense in love, scaring away people who are not ready to test the dark, deep water of Scorpio. They tend to have strong opinions about everything, and consequently, they love determined, strong people who can offer strong emotional support when in need.
«A weak spirit which is always open to persuasion first one way then another can never be reliable».
Those people are loyal and faithful to a fault. They believe vehemently in fateful events. Moon in Scorpio is sentimental, very sentimental, to the point of being a hopeless romantic and a reckless lover who can do anything for those they love and what they are passionate of:
«There was never a love like us, and there will be never again. A man cannot recover from his passion for such a woman! He ought not, he does not.”
Unlike Moon in Gemini or Moon in Sagittarius who need to be friends before having any romantic feelings, Moon in Scorpio people believe in love at first sight: love ‘em or hate ‘em, there is no in between. And they approach life in the same manner. Their tastes, likes and dislikes are oftentimes fixed, they love and hate equally passionately.
In the movie, Captain Wentworth completely disappeared from Anne’s life for years following their broken engagement. But in the end, he could never forget her. There is a mix of resentment and adoration in his love.
“I can listen no longer in silence. I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. I have loved none. For you alone I think and plan. I am certain of my faith. A word, a look would be enough. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone forever ».
Rupert Penry-Jones plays the role of Captain Wentworth gracefully and persuasively. From the piercing eyes, the brooding rumination while stealing glances at Ms. Anne Elliot to the passive-aggressiveness, the subtle emotional manipulation game he plays at a subconscious level when giving her the silent treatment while being extremely gentlemanly towards her young, innocent cousins.
I just can’t help laughing when finding out he has Venus conjunct Jupiter, no wonder why he can understand so well the layers of emotions that Jane Austen, whose Venus was also in Scorpio, put in her work. It takes a Venus in Scorpio to understand a Moon in Scorpio, naturally.
On the Scorpio new moon next week, the Sun, the Moon, Mars and the asteroid Ceres will meet at 20 - 22 degrees of Scorpio, and the whole stellium will be in exact opposition with the duo Eris-Xena and the North node in Taurus. This new moon carries with it the energy blueprint of an eclipse despite being one. You may feel the need to enter your cave and ruminate over painful experiences or agonising life experiences that have taken years to get over. You may feel emotionally vulnerable and need more alone time to process and recover. Whatever it may be, take the time you need to feel and heal. Who are you ready to forgive? What do you want to leave behind? Are you ready to set aside your pride and pursuit what you really desire? Those are the questions of this New Moon in Scorpio.
